Xen-Arts has released Xen-FMTS 2, a freeware 4-operator FM synthesizer in VSTi plugin format for Windows with additional microtuning and xenharmonic tuning features.

Xen-FMTS 2 is a 4 Operator FM Synthesis VSTi with a specialized set of features for computer musicians interested in exploring the vast expressive possibilities of making music with alternative intonation systems.

Xen-FMTS 2 is available for free download via Xen-FMTS 2 (9.6 MB download size, ZIP archive, 32-bit VSTi plugin format for Windows, made with SynthEdit).

The instrument is based on FM synthesis with 4 operators with ring modulation. The plugin features 57 operator algorithms, 11 operator waveforms, analog drift emulation, 7 modulators for each operator, etc. This is definitely one of the most powerful freeware FM synthesizers currently available and the additional microtuning features make it a unique offering on the freeware plugin scene.

Xen-FMTS 2 is capable of loading MTS (MIDI Tuning Standard) microtuning format files internally as well as receiving MTS data externally. Both local (per patch) and global microtuning is supported. The instrument is 12 note polyphonic with optional monophonic legato mode and monophonic portamento.
