Positive Grid has announced that the BIAS FX LE guitar amp software suite is offered as a completely free download from their website until December 9th, 2018.

BIAS FX LE is a stripped down version of BIAS FX Pro, featuring a total of three virtual guitar amps (’77 Silvertone, ’69 Plexiglas, and ’92 Treadplate) and six virtual guitar pedals (treble booster, 6-band equalizer, an overdrive stompbox, a chorus, as well as digital delay and reverb pedals). It was offered as a freely downloadable product several times in the past already, as part of Focusrite Collective and also in the Propellerhead Shop. Since I’m not a professional guitarist, take my review of the software with a grain of salt. That said, to my ears, the virtual amps and effects included in BIAS FX LE sound very good. The amp models cover a range of classic tones, raging from Silvertone’s cleans to more high-gain sounds offered by the Treadplate amp. My main gripe with BIAS FX LE is that the software is slightly laggy on my system. The CPU hit isn’t too high for a guitar amp, but the software takes a while to load as simply doesn’t feel as responsive as my other plugins.

If you play the guitar or find yourself mixing DI guitar recordings more often than not, there’s really no reason not to give BIAS FX LE a try. Chances are you’ll end up adding another tool to your guitar processing arsenal completely free of charge.
