Crystal by Grean Oak was first released ages ago, and it always had sort of a pro sound designer’s favorite status.
With its complex interface and advanced features it’s not really fit for newbie users, but it sure can unleash awesome power when handled with skill (or if you go Indiana Jones vs sword on it and just download some patches). The latest 2.5.0 update bring 64bit support both for Windows and Mac users. Here’s more info about the update:
Crystal goes 64 bit! With version 2.5.0, Crystal is now available as a 64 bit plugin on both Windows and OSX. The OSX installer installs both Audio Unit and VST plugins which are capable of 32 or 64 bit. The Windows download includes both 32 and 64 VST versions, so you can put the appropriate one in your plugins folder.
So update your Crystal to 2.5.0 if you own a 64bit machine, and if you’re checking it out for the first time here’s a nice resource of some free banks to try it out with.
