Fracture Sounds Drops Free Gentle Strings Chamber Ensemble Library for Kontakt Player

1

Fracture Sounds released the free Blueprint: Gentle Strings chamber ensemble, a library for the free Kontakt Player

You can get the download link to Gentle Strings by signing up for the Fracture Sounds mailing list on the product page.

The library is a 771 MB download and is “NCW compressed from an 822 MB sample pool”.

Fracture Sounds states that the team “recorded a chamber-sized string ensemble in the large main studio at The Nave to create the library.

“The library features mutes on the strings, playing the long con sordino articulation – resulting in a soft cinematic sound that is commonly used for scoring.”

The developer notes that the library is also suitable for popular music.

Beyond soundtrack work, the library seems to lend itself to pop, ambient, and ‘80s music. The name Gentle Strings is rather well chosen, as the library has a calming, gentle tone.

You can decide by listening to the in-depth demo and overview the developer created for YouTube

Gentle Strings features three violins, three violas, and three cellos playing in unison in a large live studio room.

There is only one articulation (long con sordino) and you have the option of Close, Mid and Far microphone signals.

These signals have their own individual levels and can be mixed together as needed.

The main interface features the following parameters: Dynamics, Colour, Atmosphere, and Reverb.

Clicking on the settings cogs brings up the Tightness, Dynamic Range, Attack, and Release controls.

The instrument has full NKS support, so you can get hands-on with Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol keyboards.

The activation for Gentle Strings is via Native Access.

The free Kontakt Player, meanwhile, is available in 64-bit only for Windows (VST3, AAX, standalone) and Mac (VST3, AU, AAX, standalone.)

Gentle Strings is the seventh release in the free Blueprint series, which also features Gentle Winds, Toy Piano, Textural Violin, Festive Bells, Greenhead Chimes, and Electric Keys.

All of the Blueprint libraries run on Kontakt Player.

Curiously, Fracture Sounds also offer the free Pumpkin Patch library, which is made entirely of percussion sounds played on a pumpkin.

Pumpkin Patch is for the paid version of Kontakt and was released in October, so unlike their Emotional Recorder library, it’s not an April Fool’s joke.
