6

Goldbaby has released Goldbaby vs FXpansion, a free drum sample pack featuring a collection of drum sounds created with FXpansion plugins.

This pack contains 60 x 24 bit wav drums and 3 Rex loops. Created using FXpansion plug-ins: Tremor, Maul, Etch and DCAM Dynamics.

Goldbaby vs FXpansion is available for free download via Goldbaby’s website (15MB download size, 60 drum samples in 24-bit WAV format + 3 loops in REX format).

Goldbaby’s freebies are regarded as some of the best free drum packs out there, so don’t miss this pack if you’re looking to add more drum sounds to your sample collection. Also make sure you download Goldbaby’s previous releases, his free TR-808 pack is my favorite 808 freebie.

  1. Little off topic, but, am I the only person that thinks Goldbaby samples are the most overhyped drum collections on the Internet today? I mean, the background stories are phenomenal. Vintage drum machines, vintage outboard gear, custom EPROMs, etc… But when I listen to the stuff, it leaves me lacking. Like, if you have that much access to all this equipment, I should be blown away by your content. I laud him for his dedication and consistent output, but his stuff requires so much processing just to be brought to a level equivalent to the sounds most of us are trying to emulate in our tracks (i.e., the latest hit in whatever genre we produce). Just my 0.02.

well, the way i see it, it’s simply a matter of personal preference. i’ve used his free samples numerous times and rarely felt like i needed to do some extra processing in order to improve the sounds.

but that’s because they fit in nicely with the music i make, and i’m sure that they won’t fit that good with all styles of music.
