Pixiphone – Free Max For Live Instrument By Whitebox Synth Makers

Whitebox Synth Makers has released Pixiphone, a free Max for Live synthesizer which emulates the sound characteristics of a toy instrument.

Whitebox has released Pixiphone, an ambient instrument that models a child’s toy then enlarges it with spectral delay, reverb, brightness, hit strength, attack and decay. Interesting results range from ethereal vibraphones to metallic mallets to tinkling bells.

Pixiphone is available for free download via Whitebox Synth Makers (404kB download size, contains 1 instrument in AMXD file format).

The instrument features built-in reverb and delay effects, and is particularly suitable for creating atmospheric soundscapes and bell-like timbres.

Pixiphone requires Ableton Live with Max for Live installed. You can get Max for Live as part of the Ableton Live 9 Suite.
