Harmonette – A Free Kontakt Instrument By Embertone (Limited Time)

Embertone has announced that their Harmonette sample library for NI Kontakt is now available as a free download for a limited time!

The Harmonette is a rare, antique instrument, and in all of our research we could not find a similar one! It looks like a recorder, but functions and sounds more like a melodica. And it’s super old – our best guess is somewhere between 60-80 years.

Harmonette is available for free download via Embertone (29.5 MB download size, RAR archive, contains 11 patches in NKI format for Native Instruments Kontakt).

The info on the website is a bit confusing. The download page says that this download is exclusive for Facebook users, however it is possible to download the freebie without logging in to your Facebook account. Also, the page says that the offer expires on December 25th, however I’ve successfully downloaded the instrument moments ago!

After a bit of research, I’ve found out that this same instrument was released as a Christmas freebie last year. It was Facebook-only back then, but now it’s available for everyone. It’s probably a time limited offer again, so hurry up!

Either way, this is a great little collection of samples for Kontakt. The sampled instrument (which is around 60 years old!) sounds similar to a melodica, but looks a lot like a recorder.

Please note that the full version of NI Kontakt is required in order to use these samples. Individual WAV files are not included, unfortunately.
