Wave Alchemy has launched Producer Contest 2014, a music making contest with over $8000 worth of prizes in the form of audio software and soundware. They are also giving away a sound collection with over 1 GB of free samples from their product portfolio.
The contest was launched on October 24th and the deadline for submitting your entry is November 21st. The winners will be selected by Dan Byers and Steve Heath from Wave Alchemy. There will be three winners in total. The prizes include Wave Alchemy’s complete product catalog, along with some fantastic prizes provided by other companies (Native Instruments is giving away Kontakt 5, U-He is donating their new Bazzille modular synthesizer, etc.). The provided sample pack contains over 1 GB of audio content which was hand picked from commercial Wave Alchemy releases. The samples should be used as the basis of your WA contest entry, however you are free to use additional sounds. You are also encouraged to process and re-arrange the provided samples.
As far as I understand, the provided samples are available for royalty free use even outside the contest. I’ve emailed Wave Alchemy about this and I’ll update the article as soon as I receive an official reply about this.
UPDATE: Our reader Dan has reported that the pack already contains a disclaimer which says that the samples are available for royalty free use even outside the contest. This is great news! The sample pack contains TONS of high quality samples and loops. Definitely a recommended download. Thanks to Dan for the report!

99Sounds is currently running a music contest with over $1000 in prizes. The goal is to create a track using ONLY the samples available for download on 99Sounds. No virtual instruments allowed. You can use any DAW and any amount of internal and external effects. The deadline is November 15th.
Rekkerd is running a contest titled Music that changed my world. The goal is to create a song which is inspired by your favorite album or artist. The deadline is November 2nd! The top 10 winners can pick their prize from the prize pot in order of placement.

onIn every folder there is pdf called “++please read” or “please read” and it says that these sounds “can be used in your own music compositions without the need to credit Wave Alchemy in any way”
