DNR Collaborative have released Sound Sampler 01, a free sample library featuring samples and loops from the Sound Repository. DNR Collaborative explain that the Sound Sampler is aimed at providing users with a free package of sounds to demonstrate what their Sound Repository is about.

Sound Sampler is available for free download via DNR Collaborative (1GB download size, contains 1840 samples & loops in 24-bit WAV format).

Once you get the download link, open the downloaded file with your browser. It will take you to DNR Collaborative’s Dropbox folder, from which you can download the actual samples. You can choose to download all files at once, or separately by folder.

Sound Sampler contains lots of different samples, from percussion loops to some very nice female vocals. Definitely a recommended download! Best of all, they are offered for use under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported license.

  1. How do you guys deal with more and more and more samples?

It’s driving me crazy and I’m hardly downloading any new stuff.

My drums one-shot folders are filled with stuff and recently I’m spending 1/2 to 1 hour a day listening and deleting kicks, snare, hihats etc, only keeping the best or most useful (for layering) sounds.

Went from around 2500 snares and kicks each to around 300-500 each for example.
