Kyle Mohr has released Super 64, a cool free Ableton Live sound pack which features a whole bunch of 8-bit sounds from classic Nintendo and Atari video games.
Kyle used a set of samples which were recorded from various classic video games in order to create four individual sound banks for Ableton Live. The samples are already mapped across 16 drum pads and they’re ready for use as soon as you load the chosen sound bank.
The video games which have been sampled for this free sound pack are:
- Bank 1: Super Mario All-stars
- Bank 2: Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2
- Bank 3: Street Fighter
- Bank 4: The Simpsons Arcade Game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Hyperstone Heist, NBA Jam, Atari Classics
- Bonus Samples: Duck Hunt, Donkey Kong (Atari), Legend Of Zelda, Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball
Once you extract the downloaded ZIP archive and open the included project file in Ableton Live, save the drum rack and then will have the sound pack installed. If you don’t use Ableton Live, open the “samples” folder if you’d like to grab the individual sounds and use them in your favorite sampler instrument.
NOTE: Obviously, all of these sounds are sampled directly from video games, so you’re definitely NOTsuggested to use them in commercial projects!

Keep in mind that a small portion of the sounds from the CHIPSHOP sample pack is also sampled from old video games.
