SoundToys have announced the release of Little AlterBoy, a vocal manipulation, auto-tune and pitch shifting processor in VST/AU/RTAS/AAX plugin formats for Windows and Mac OS X. The plugin is available as a free download for a limited time period.
Similar to the Native Instruments tradition of giving away awesome tools for free during the Christmas period, SoundToys have been giving away some fantastic goodies during the the SXSW conference and festival for the past couple of years. Last year they offered the brilliant Little PrimalTap delay plugin as a free download and this time around they’re giving away Little AlterBoy, a surprisingly versatile and powerful vocal processing effect.
Little AlterBoy works as a simple auto-tune effect, a pitch shifter (this can also work fantastic on other types of sounds and not just vocals), a harmonizer, a robot-style vocal processor, and lots of other stuff if you combine several effects. According to SoundToys, their goal was to create a tool which would deliver “a whole slew of classic vocal tricks”, from old school classics like harmonizing and robot voices to modern time favorites such as the auto-tune effect. My favorite feature of the plugin so far is the powerful pitch shifter module, which works absolutely great for turning almost any sound into an EDM-style build-up effect. Take a long (or looped) sound like random street noises or engine sounds and automate the pitch shifter knob do get a huge tension builder type of SFX.
To get your free copy of Little AlterBoy, visit the promo page linked below and sign in to your SoundToys user account (you can create a user account for free if you don’t already have one). The plugin will be added to your user account right away and you will also get your own personal sharing code which can give you unlimited SoundToys plugins for life if enough people get Little Alterboy using your code. There will be more than 50 winners in total, however only one user will get the aforementioned grand prize.
This is a limited time offer which will expire on April 1st, so make sure the you download and activate your free copy of Little AlterBoy before that date. After the freebie offer has expired, SoundToys will release a commercial version of the plugin which will be called AlterBoy. All registered Little AlterBoy users will get a special offer on the price of the upgrade to the commercial version of the plugin.
Please note that you will also need a working iLok user account in order to register and activate your copy of Little AlterBoy. The iLok dongle is NOT REQUIRED. You can register and activate your copy of the plugin completely free using the iLok License Manager application.

onI’m trying to create an account but it keeps saying my ILok user ID is not valid. I have an ILok account and I’ve checked to make sure that the ID is correct, so I don’t know what’s wrong :(. This looks like a cool plugin and I’d love to be able to use it.

I got a valid ILok account (for UVI Mello) but the site says incorrect ID.

onOk, so I finally got this after a long process of waiting and signing up.. But I have to say that this is one of the most fun plugins I had in a long while! I totally recommend it to anyone who wants to have fun with mangling vocals.. although as stated before, the process of getting is quite a pain, not to mention you only get to activate its license only twice…..
This looks cool :) But a MISSION to get. Say.. Would anyone mind a lot to make some risers from organic sounds as stated somewhere above? I’d be willing to share some sounds I’ve made in return!
