Goodhertz Releases Free Midside Matrix AU/AAX Plugin (Mac OS)

Goodhertz has introduced Midside Matrix, a freeware M/S processing tool in AU/AAX plugin formats for compatible host applications on Mac OS.

Midside Matrix is a lightweight, feature limited version of Midside (priced at $79), a much more versatile M/S processor developed by the same company. The freeware Midside Matrix does provide all of the essential M/S processing features, though, allowing the user to flip, mute and adjust the volume of the Mid and Side channels. It comes in a nice looking interface with a handy goniometer display in the upper-left corner, A/B testing functionality, undo/redo buttons, a patch browser and full automation support.

Since I don’t own a Mac, I wasn’t able to test this plugin at all, but it definitely looks good on paper. Apparently, Goodhertz are among the finest Mac plugin developers around (sadly for us Windows users, all of their plugins are Mac only!) and I’ve only heard great things about their products. Their ex-freeware Faraday Limiter was included as one of the top picks in our popular Best Free VST Plugins of 2014 article, however it is now priced at $95 (hint: grab Midside Matrix for free while you still can).

The plugin is available for direct free download from the developer’s website, no registration required. It is distributed as part of an installer which contains all Goodhertz products in a single package.
