Free Tremolo VST/AU Plugin By Adam Monroe Music

Adam Monroe has released Adam Monroe’s Tremolo, a freeware stompbox style tremolo effect in VST/AU plugin formats for PC and Mac based host applications.

Adam Monroe’s Tremolo was designed to work in tandem with Adam Monroe’s Mark 73 Electric Piano (a $25 electric piano VST/AU plugin for Win and Mac), but it can, of course, be used together with any other instrument and in any compatible DAW. It’s inspired by classic guitar tremolo pedals, meaning that there’s no way to sync the modulation speed parameter to the host application’s tempo automatically. The plugin does include a sampling rate selector, though, which is an interesting option.

In terms of available control parameters, you’ll find the modulation speed and depth knobs for the tremolo and auto-pan effects, along with a global mix knob (which affects the modulation depth of both effects at the same time). The aforementioned sampling rate selector directly affects the modulation speed parameter for both effects. The plugin also includes a set of ten factory patches which can be useful if you want to quickly add some movement to a guitar track or a piano backing track.

Overall, the plugin performed very well during the test and the CPU hit never exceeded 1%, which, although not surprising for a simple tremolo/panning effect, is still nice to see. Obviously, Adam Monroe’s Tremolo wasn’t meant to be an innovative or groundbreaking effect by any means, but rather an emulation of classic tremolo guitar pedals that most guitarists and keyboard players will find familiar. If you’re looking for something similar but a bit more advanced, check out the Pecheneg Tremolo by PechenegFX and HY-TP by HY-Plugins.

Adam Monroe’s Tremolo is available for free download via Adam Monroe Music (2.89 MB download size, ZIP archive, 32-bit & 64-bit VST/AU plugin format for Windows & Mac OS).
