Splice Sounds has launched TR-808 Samples, a completely free Roland TR-808 drum machine sample pack crafted by the experts at Sample Magic. It is completely free to download via Splice Sounds, although you can also get a free 1-month trial with access to all products if you use the coupon code BPB17 when signing up.

The sample pack contains 107 samples captured from the legendary Roland TR-808 drum machine. The included samples cover every possible pitch and length of each drum tone, offering a pretty detailed copy of the original instrument. The only thing that might be considered lacking are round robin samples, but even so, you’re getting quite a lot of content for a freebie.

The samples were captured through the high-end Prism Orpheus audio interface, with a bit of flavor added with the Neve 1073 preamp. It’s pretty much the highest quality set of 808 samples that you can get free of charge, together with some excellent freebies by Goldbaby and Wave Alchemy. All samples are provided in 24-bit WAV format, ensuring complete compatibility with all major sampler instruments and digital audio workstations on the market.

TR-808 is offered as a completely free download on the Splice Sounds website, for a limited time. To grab your free copy of the pack, simply visit the product page linked below and sign up using your email address. If you use the coupon code BPB17 (click here to sign up), you will get a free 1-month trial to Splice Sounds, with unlimited access to paid sample libraries.

That’s true, but the point is that people who really like a particular service will use their real email address (or one created specifically for newsletters) to stay in the loop with new offers, discounts, and such.

  2. You can also just download the samples directly from Sample Magic’s website, if you don’t want to create a Splice account and give them your card info and stuff. Wish I’d known that earlier.

When something is free, you are the product. And if you don’t like that, don’t ‘buy’ it. Life can be so simple :)
