Ecliptiq Audio Releases Free Ethnic Percussion Kontakt Library

Ecliptiq Audio has announced the release of Tribalistiq, a free ethnic percussion sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Tribalistiq is, in the words of its creators, a “small, but useful” free Kontakt instrument that features eight types of percussion sounds. More specifically, these are variations on timbale, shekere, and caxixi ethnic percussion instruments. They certainly sound interesting and have an exotic flavor. It’s unusual and rare percussive instruments like these that work great for adding interest and a sense of creativity to drum tracks made with more common acoustic and electronic drum sounds.

The customized Kontakt interface features adjustable volume, pan, and reverb parameters for a bit of hands-on control over the output. The instrument is based on a set of 24 samples in all. Whereas we’ve definitely seen more detailed libraries with plenty more samples per instrument, the number of samples included in Tribalistiq is just about right to ensure a small and compact download while sounding good and artifact-free in your productions. In addition to the sound adjustment panel, Tribalistiq also features a performer panel designed for creating drum patterns. It is based on Kontakt’s built-in sequencer.

While Tribalistiq itself is a free download, the patch requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt to work without any limitations. It will only work for fifteen minutes at a time if the free Kontakt Player instrument is used as the host. The great news for producers who don’t own a copy of Kontakt is that the samples are also provided in WAV format, meaning that you can use them in pretty much any sampler instrument on the market. The library is offered for direct free download from Ecliptiq Audio’s website, no registration required.

Tribalistiq is available for free download via Ecliptiq Audio (10.1 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 1 instrument patch in NKI format for NI Kontakt).
