Free NRR-1 Guitar Amplifier VST/AU Plugin Updated

2

Ignite Amps has released an updated version of NRR-1, a freeware guitar amplifier in VST, VST3, and AU plugin formats for compatible DAW software on PC and Mac.

NRR-1 is an emulation of a custom hardware guitar amplifier which was built by Ignite Amps back in 2009. The hardware version of NRR-1 was custom-made for Fleshgod Apocalypse guitarist Cristiano Trionfera. It is a 3-channel tube preamplifier which is mainly based on the preamp circuit of the Soldano X88R, although with several modifications which were made to better suit Cristiano Trionfera’s playing style.

The plugin version of NRR-1 was introduced back in 2011 and quickly became one of the most popular virtual guitar amps among metal guitarists. Of course, since it doesn’t include any form of cabinet emulation, be sure to pair it up with a high-quality guitar cab simulator or an IR loader (NadIR by Ignite Amps is highly recommended). You’ll be able to squeeze out some amazing guitar tones with the right combination of NRR-1 a decent cab sim.

As for the latest update, the most significant improvement is the improved triode modeling engine. It is supposed to provide better sound quality which gets even closer to that of the original hardware. Of course, NRR-1 still features three channels with separate controls (clean, rhythm, and lead), mono and stereo processing support, up to 8X oversampling, and full automation support.

NRR-1 is compatible with all VST and AU plugin hosts on PC and Mac. The plugin can be downloaded completely free of charge from KVR Audio. You don’t need to sign up for a user account or activate the software after installation.

NRR-1 is available for free download via KVR Audio (3.9 MB download size, ZIP archive, 32-bit & 64-bit VST/VST3/AU plugin formats for Windows & MacOS).
