AfroDJMac has released a free Ableton Live rack based on the samples of the Casio CT-101 vintage analogue synthesizer keyboard.
So, I created two instrument racks using some Casio CT-101 samples. They were designed to make use of the character of this synth. I wanted to emulate a subtle keyboard drift on these racks.
Casio CT-101 Rack is available for free download via AfroDJMac (4.8 MB download size, ALP format for Ableton Live).
Please note that a working email address is required in order to download the rack. The download link will be delivered to your email Inbox.
The pack is based on a set of Casio CT-101 samples which was provided by Brian Anthony Donaldson. This is an old analogue keyboard produced by Casio in 1981. Not a very exciting instrument, but still warm and rich sounding. I used to own a similar Casio keyboard a couple of years ago and it was fun to play around with.
AfroDJMac has used the provided samples to create a neat little instrument rack for Ableton Live. He tried to emulation the subtle drifting of the notes which is a well known characteristic of old analogue synthesizers and an important aspect of their magical sound. You can hear the instrument in action by watching the demo video below.
On a related note, AfroDJMac has also released a free instrument rack which is based on Roland Juno-106 samples. It features a rich analogue pad sampled from the famous 80s synthesizer and is definitely worth a download if you’re into old school synth sounds.
