Free Tech House Drum Sample Pack By Tomy DeClerque!

Tomy DeClerque has released a free drum sample pack featuring a large selection of kick and snare drums which were built from scratch using various acoustic and virtual instruments.

The library contains 61 kick drum samples which were synthesized with the Pro Tools Boom virtual drum machine, along with a collection of over 300 snare and cymbal sounds which were recorded live in Tomy’s studio. Although packs which contain a bunch of electronic kicks alongside acoustic snares and cymbals are not all that common, I actually really enjoyed browsing through this unusual mixture of drum sounds.

The samples on the other hand are not unusual at all, but obviously that wasn’t the point of this sample library in the first place. I think that Tomy wanted to deliver a set of highly usable drum hits and he did a great job at it. The synthesized kick drums are really well made and suitable for use in various genres of electronic music from house to deep techno and electro. There are some lovely subby kicks inside the pack, as well as some terrific punchy bass drums with super heavy attack transients.

Although the kicks are pretty neat, my favorite part of the pack is the acoustic snare drum which features tons of different articulations such as rimshots, flams, muffled hits, heavy hits, etc. Obviously, these acoustic snare samples can be used in rock and pop music production, but I think that they would also sound great in trap, hip hop and other urban genres with a bit of compression and post-processing. The snare which was recorded for this sample pack has a pretty cool tight and punchy sound which would work very well for those fast pitched down drum rolls which we can hear very often in urban music nowadays.

The pack contains dry and wet variations of all acoustic drums, which is a neat touch. Along with the kicks, snares and cymbals, the library also contains a bonus set of accidental sounds which were captured during the recording process. There are some fun hits in there too, so definitely check out the bonus folder if you’re looking for some interesting accidental percussion gems.
