Two NI Kontakt Freebies Released By Cinematique Instruments

Cinematique Instruments has released Sägezahn 2015 and Cement, two free instrument libraries designed for use with Native Instruments Kontakt.

Both freebies include NKI patches which require the full version of NI Kontakt (the NKI patches will work for fifteen minutes only in the freeware Kontakt Player). Users who don’t own NI Kontakt will still be able to benefit from the two freebies, since both packs also contain the individual WAV files alongside the NKI instrument patches. The provided WAV samples can be used in most sampler instruments and digital audio workstations.

Sägezahn 2015

Sägezahn 2015 is an interesting sample based subtractive synthesizer, featuring a collection of saw waveforms which have been sampled from various hardware synthesizers. The sampled oscillator waveforms come from the Ensoniq ESQ-1 hybrid synthesizer (click here for more free ESQ-1 sounds), Korg MS20, Roland JX-3P and Electro Harmonix Microsynth. The raw waveforms were recorded at different filter settings, capturing the character and and the signature sound of each sampled instrument.

The download pack includes eight multi-sampled waveform patches, adding up to 153 samples in total. These multi-sampled waveforms can be further processed with the custom NI Kontakt user interface and layered together to create fat and complex timbres. The custom interface provides a resonant low-pass filter, a chorus module, a simple reverb and a tempo synced delay effect. Although the instrument is not very versatile, it is capable of generating some great sounding analogue style bass and lead patches.

Cement

Cement is a grid-based step sequencer virtual instrument which was originally priced at €19 when it was released back in July 2011. It is a fun composition and experimentation tool which was designed for sketching new musical ideas with ease. The instrument features a lovely set of melodic percussion sounds which are triggered by the sequencer grid. The sample content can also be used outside of NI Kontakt, as mentioned above.

The sequences generated by the instrument can be further tweaked with various built-in effects and performance controls for transpose and tempo. Cement is capable of operating in standalone mode or in sync with the host application’s tempo setting.
