Free “Dimension Plus” Room Reverb By EpicMStudios

4

Dimension Plus is a freeware room reverb VST plugin released by EpicMStudios, compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit plugin host applications running on Windows.

This is a very simple room reverb effect and that’s exactly what I like about it. There are only three parameters to work with: direction (which basically stands for stereo balance), size (short for room size) and the dry/wet mix knob. Obviously, Dimension Plus is not a jack of all trades when it comes to reverb plugins, but it’s a great tool to use when  you’re in a hurry and you need to quickly dial in a bit of reverb.

When the size parameter is set to zero, you get the basic small room sound which can work well for adding a bit of space and dimension to your mix. At extreme settings, the emulated space becomes absolutely ginormous, which is something that the sound designers among us will certainly appreciate. The actual sound quality of the reverb is pretty good as well and I certainly wouldn’t mind using it in a project (although, truth be told, I’ve never been too picky when it comes to reverb algorithms). The lack of tone control means that you’ll need to use a third party filter or an equalizer to shape the sound of the reverb to perfectly suit your needs (of course, you’ll need to use an FX send in this case, in order to keep the dry version of the signal clean).

Another great thing about Dimension Plus is the CPU usage. It used 1-2% of CPU on our test machine (with an i5 processor), even with the size parameter set to its maximum value, which is a surprisingly good result for a reverb effect. All in all, this one is a recommended download for anyone looking for an easy to use and nice sounding freeware reverb. The plugin is completely free to download and use, no user registration or plugin activation required.

    • After testing, would love to see a switch which could alternate modes for the ‘direction’ control.
To switch between ‘all sounds pan control’ (as it is now), and ‘reverb effect only pan control’. So for example, clean signal right, effect panned left (or wherever).

I’m sure that could be set up using a send bus setup, but man that would be so simple if it could be on the track not a bus….
