Tangent Edge Instruments Intros Free FM Electric Piano For Kontakt

0

Tangent Edge Instruments has introduced 80s EP FM 140, a free NI Kontakt sound library (AIFF samples also included) featuring an electric piano patch that was sampled from the Yamaha DX7 Mark II synthesizer.

The pack contains 140 samples in total, including release samples and four velocity layers per note. The NI Kontakt patch is provided in three different versions (for Kontakt 3.5, 4 and 5), but what’s particularly important is that the samples are also available in AIFF format which can be used in most other sampler instruments. The AIFF samples can also be converted to WAV format for increased compatibility. The included NKI patches will work for fifteen minutes at a time in the free Kontakt Player.

This sample pack is one quarter of a series of FM electric piano libraries released by Tangent Edge Instruments. The other three are commercial products priced at $30 each (with 1,144 samples per library) and also available in lightweight $15 packs which contain 140 samples. According to the info available on the product page, the sound designers at Tangent Edge Instruments went through 2,000 different electric piano presets in order to narrow the list down to the four best ones. These best presets were then further tweaked and sampled in high detail (one of them is still unreleased). The 80s EP FM 140 sound bank, which is the one available as a free download, is based on the popular “FM Roads” preset.
