Icebreaker Audio has released Key-Clicks, a free NI Kontakt instrument featuring the characteristic click sound produced by electric piano and synthesizer keys.
The sound of playing an electronic keyboard that is turned off. A useful tool for adding a layer of tactile realism to software synthesizers.
Key-Clicks is available for free download via Icebreaker Audio (6,71MB download size, Kontakt 4.2.4 or later required).
Note that the pack doesn’t contain extracted audio files, so you’ll definitely need Kontakt for this one. It should also work in demo mode (for 3o minutes only) in the freely available Kontakt Player.
The instrument features numerous click sounds (around 60 samples per patch) captured from four different sources: Yamaha PSS-130, Casio VL-Tone, Yamaha HS-200, and Realistic Concertmate 400.
This is a completely unusual concept for a sample pack and I love it! I’m quite curious to hear how these will sound layered over VSTi synthesizer presets.
For a somewhat similar collection of sounds, check out the Brother Typewriter collection (16-bit WAV) by Subtersonic.
