Zombie Queen has released a free collection of waveform samples, captured from a Technics M33G audio cassette player.
I took an old cassette deck, Technics M33G and I created a feedback loop by connecting signal output with input. Then I connected deck’s phone output to Audiofire sound card and captured the whole scale available from manipulating the magical volume knob, to create this little sample set.
The sample pack is available for free download via KVR Forums (10.3MB download size, 16.8MB size on disk, 86 samples in 24-bit WAV format).
The pack includes 7 different SFZ files, with different filter and tune settings. You’ll also find a single sample of the vintage Technics ST-8080 Tuner sine wave test tone.
I’ve previewed the included waveforms and I really liked what I heard. Although they sound very similar to a regular saw waveform, there’s still some unusual raw character to them. These should be fun to play around with in Shortcircuit 1!

onSome of the sounds in the demo sound pretty fat. Question now is whether you can actually play an entire scale with the sounds provided in the soundfont. I guess a quick download will answer that question.
Bedroom Producers Blog
