BlauKraut Engineering has released v1.3 of Charlatan, a freeware virtual analogue synthesizer for Windows.
Charlatan is a polyphonic, subtractive virtual analog software synthesizer plugin whose design focuses on sound quality and easy usability. Charlatan’s synthesis architecture is flexible enough to create all kinds of sounds, from conventional classic leads, basses and pads to weird blips and noises.
Charlatan is available for free download via BlauKraut Engineering’s website (893kB download size, 32-bit & 64-bit VSTi plugin format for Windows).
The new version introduces velocity sensitivity for both the volume and mod envelopes. It also features an improved GUI with a slightly darker red color.
Charlatan is one of my favorite freeware instruments. You seriously need to get it if you’re looking for a simple yet great sounding virtual analogue synthesizer.
