Breaking Bread – Free Percussion Sample Pack By Fairly Confusing Waveforms

2

Fairly Confusing Waveforms has released Breaking Bread, a free percussion sample pack featuring the sounds of a variety of breads!

I have found quite impressive collection of super dry bread pieces, buns, bread sticks and matzoh, dwelling upon my refrigerator. This stuff was crispy and crunchy and somehow I’ve seen a drum kit possibility in it.

Breaking Bread is available for free download via Fairly Confusing Waveforms (3.0 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 90 audio samples in 24-bit WAV format, patches for NI Battery 2 and SFZ).

The sample collection is split into two separate folders. The first folder labeled 44 raw contains a set of unprocessed sounds which have simply been trimmed and re-sampled down to 44.1 kHz. The folder labeled 44 processed contains a set of heavily processed samples which been slowed down and the re-sampled up to 44.1 kHz.

Obviously, these bread percussion sounds can be used for layering an electronic percussion track and giving it a more organic flavor. But, as the author suggested on the website, in a certain way they are actually a perfect candidate for your bread and butter drum kit. So, why not sample some butter sounds and say goodbye to your huge collection of drum samples? Sounds like a plan!

Funny talk aside, I’m a huge fan of imaginative and unusual sample libraries such as this one. Big kudos to Fairly Confusing Waveforms for creating these sounds and sharing them with us for free.

If you’re looking for more freebies similar to this one, take a look at my Household Percussion, Snaps and Claps sample pack which features a set of sounds which were recorded at my home.
