The second BPB giveaway this month (thanks to Xenos Soundworks for supporting the previous one) comes from Samples From Mars. They are giving away their Roland TR-808 and LinnDrum drum machine sample packs to one lucky BPB reader.
Samples From Mars is a drum and synthesizer samples imprint based in Brooklyn, NYC founded by producer / engineer Eddie Mars. Using a variety of classic gear we create unique and professional sample libraries with a focus on analog sounds.
The Roland TR-808 sample pack by Samples From Mars is priced at $18 and contains 493 high quality audio samples in 24-bit WAV format. The samples were recorded using vintage studio gear and were re-pitched on tape for more oomph and smack.
The LinnDrum sample pack is available for $14 and contains more than 600 high quality 24-bit audio samples of the famous LinnDrum LM-2 vintage drum machine.
Samples From Mars have crafted these samples without the use of in-the-box processing. Instead, the samples have been passed through a SSL 4000 G+ console, Otari MTR-12 1/4″ reel to reel, Thermionic Culture Vulture, Roland RE-201 Space Echo, and so on.
Some of the sample have been re-pitched with the Emu SP-1200 hardware sampler, famous for its unique gritty character and positive impact on drum samples.
These samples are among the highest quality drum machine samples you can find online (along with Goldbaby, Wave Alchemy, and Driven Machine Drums). They sound powerful and organic, they are enhanced with high-end studio gear and not over-processed, they offer lots of variety (with around 500 samples per drum machine) and they are very affordable.
