Free Junk Percussion Sample Library Released By Fairly Confusing Waveforms

Fairly Confusing Waveforms has released Junk Percussion, an unusual percussion sample pack featuring the sounds of various household objects getting smashed.

At one point I needed more percussion sounds, I quickly collected some junk around the house and I took a long evening session of banging on stuff. Some of these sounds were incorporated into Psychodrumma soundbanks, but still there were plenty of leftovers. I finally had time to edit them, so today I’m offering household junk percussion set.

Junk Percussion is available for free download via Fairly Confusing Waveforms (12.7 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 200 audio samples in 16-bit WAV format).

This sample pack is the latest addition to an ongoing series of free sample packs by Fairly Confusing Waveforms. All of their sample packs so far feature all sorts of different sounds, however they all share one thing in common. Most of the sampled stuff are things you’ve never even dreamed of having in your sample library, like ever. Bread crumb samples, anyone?

The complete list of objects which have been used as the sound sources for the Junk Percussion kit is available on the download page linked below. Some of the more peculiar pieces include a self propelled plastic toy mouse, a bicycle horn, a broken 8 mm camera, and a piece of duct tape. The pack features 200 one shot percussive sounds, all of which are provided royalty free. The sounds were recorded with an AT3035 microphone, through a Focusrite ISA One preamp.

As per usual when it comes to Fairly Confusing Waveforms, the end result is nothing short of fantastic. Give them the strangest sound source in existence and they’ll come up with the neatest sample pack possible.
