Saltline has announced the release of Drzewo Cedr, a freeware virtual analogue synthesizer VSTi plugin for Windows which features two oscillators and a great 16-step sequencer.

Drzewo Cedr could easily have been “just another” virtual analogue synthesizer, but its fantastic built-in 16-step sequencer really makes it stand out from the crowd. The sequencer can be used to control note pitch and gate, as well as filter cutoff and several other destinations such as panning and delay rate. It can also work in multiple directions and sync to host tempo automatically at different rates. I’m not sure if the plugin can output MIDI data, but that would definitely be a nice bonus feature.

Other features include a handy FX section with delay and bitcrusher modules, a 5-slot modulation matrix (available modulation sources include velocity, aftertouch, keyfollow, etc.) and a cool output meter with several different metering modes. Considering all the things this virtual instrument is capable of doing, the CPU hit is reasonably low. Drzewo Cedr is definitely one of the most exciting freeware synthesizers released this year.

Saltline has released several fantastic freeware VST plugins for Windows last year. Their Brzoza synthesizer was selected as one of our top picks of 2013, being one of the best freeware FM synthesizers around. Don’t miss the rest of their Drzewo series, if you’re seeking some cool free tools for your Windows based DAW.

Drzewo Cedr is released as freeware and you can download it directly from the product page linked below. Consider making a donation to Saltline if you’d like to support their future plugin development endeavors.
