Free Samples & Loops Round-Up (April 2016)

With yet another busy month almost behind us, it’s time to take a look at some of the cool April soundware freebies that haven’t been featured in our main news section.

If you’re on a lookout for free drum machine samples, exotic Ableton Live instruments, high quality acoustic drums, Commodore 64 samples, or even car sounds turned into a Kontakt instrument, you’ll certainly find something useful in the list below. Enjoy!

Loopmasters have released Wave Alchemy Label Sampler 3, a free collection of drum samples, sound effects and loops crafted by one of the best sound design labels around. The taster pack comes with a £1 price tag to cover the bandwidth costs, but you get the full license for the included samples, meaning that you can use them in your commercial releases without purchasing the commercial version of the product. Loopmasters have also released the Sample Diggers Label Sampler, containing 191 audio loops from commercial Sample Diggers releases.

How To Make Electronic Music offers a set of 32 free SFX sounds in WAV format. The pack is completely free download (just the regular right click + Save As affair, no registration or email required) and features some very nice sounding impacts, risers and other popular electronic SFX samples.

BHK Samples have released two excellent freebie sound packs for DnB producers. The first one is a set of 395 loops and samples from their commercial products, free to download with a valid email address. The second one is an additional set of 100 premium quality sounds released in celebration of BHK Samples’ 10th anniversary (congrats guys!), offered as a free download if you share the download page on your favorite (or not so favorite) social network.

Francis Preve’s new SympleSound label has released PurpleDrums, a free Ableton Live drum pack made in honour of Prince who sadly passed away this month. This educational drum pack aims to recreate the iconic “Minneapolis sound” drums pioneered by Prince back in the 70s. The download includes sixteen Linn LM-1 and LinnDrum samples, a set of ten drum loops and an interactive user manual.

Samplephonics have also commemorated one of the greatest musicians of our time by releasing a free Linndrum sound pack. The freebie contains a set of 55 drum hits from the iconic drum machine, along with patches for Kontakt, EXS24, SFZ, and other popular sampler formats.

Ghosthack has released yet another addition to his excellent series of free dubstep sample packs. Dubstep as a genre is definitely not as big as it used to be, but the one shot samples and loops included in this freebie pack can still be put to good use.

Monade Sounds has released three free sound packs for Ableton Live. The one I liked the most is called Korean Gayageum For Ableton Live, featuring the sounds of the best known Korean traditional instrument. It sounds wonderfully exotic, and is somewhat similar to the Japanese Koto and the Chinese Guzheng. Sadly, the pack doesn’t includes WAV files, so you’ll definitely need Ableton Live in order to use this one.

Audiority has something totally different in store for you this month. Let’s just say that it’s a Kontakt instrument featuring the sounds of a Chrysler 300C turned into basses, pads and leads. Totally crazy and pretty awesome at the same time!

SoundMorph has introduced Sinematic Micro, a free 255 MB selection of sounds from their latest cinematic sound design release.

Permanent Beatz has released a set of free drum samples, found sounds, loops and NI Maschine presets for hip hop producers. Offered as a free download via SoundCloud with more freebies coming in the future.

Biome Digital has launched a reward point program and introduced a brand new freebie pack for their email subscribers. Registering for a user account on their website now gives you 1,000 reward points right away.

Cinematique Instruments is offering a feature limited and freely downloadable version of their new Marble music creation tool for Native Instruments Kontakt. This won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s definitely worth a try if you like experimenting with loops and real time sound shaping.

Sample Modern has released Minimal Chords, a miniature collection of synth hits in WAV format and an additional set of chords in MIDI format.

Function Loops X The Audio Bar offers a free set of drum sounds and drum loops (35 MB of content in total). You will need to connect your SoundCloud through The Artist Union in order to download these.

Double Trouble Audio has introduced an updated version of their free collection of percussive sounds and SFX captured from the beloved Commodore 64 computer. The freebie was originally released last month, however the updated version is larger in size, containing 2,004 percussive SID chip sounds in total.
