Free Kontakt Instrument And 1000 Free Drums By Wave Alchemy

Wave Alchemy has released a free NI Kontakt instrument called Spectrum Demo and an epic collection of 1,000 free drum samples from their new Complete Drums Bundle which is announced for June 30th.

Spectrum Demo is a freely downloadable demo version of the forthcoming Spectrum virtual instrument for Native Instruments Kontakt. Compared to the full version of the product, Spectrum Demo is limited to  two oscillator slots (four in the full version), twelve factory patches (instead of 175) and 749 samples in total (10,000 in the full version). Delay and chorus effects are disabled as well and only a single sequencer pattern is available.

Even so, it is a pretty solid source of classic analog and digital synthesizer sounds for Kontakt users, considering the price. Wave Alchemy has sampled 14 different synths for this release, including quite a few absolute legends such as Minimoog Model D, Arp Odyssey and Yamaha DX5. The twelve included patches sound more than good enough to make Spectrum Demo worth the download if you own the full version of NI Kontakt. The instrument will work in demo mode in Kontakt Player, though, meaning that the output will go completely silent after 15 minutes of use.

If you do decide to give the free version of Spectrum a try, you’ll find that the custom instrument panel is quite feature-packed, making it super easy to tweak and layer the sampled sounds. I also liked the old 80s hardware vibe that was used for the GUI, although it might be a bit fiddly to use at first if you’re working on a smaller monitor.

Along with Spectrum Demo, Wave Alchemy has recently released a set of 1,000 free drum samples from their epic Complete Drums Bundle. These drum sounds are completely free to download and they’re free to use even in commercial projects. The drum samples are neatly sorted into categories and clearly labeled, so the collection is very easy to browse. Needless to say, the sound design work on these drums is amazing and they’re certainly among the best electronic drum samples that you can download for free at the moment. The full version of Complete Drums Bundle is currently priced at £189.95 and it contains a whooping 24,822 drum samples in total.
