Puremagnetik has introduced Mélange, a free Ableton Live pack (WAV files included) featuring over 1 GB worth of royalty free sounds and a total of 70 Ableton instruments sorted into seven categories.
This is one of the largest Ableton Live freebies we’ve seen in quite some time, packing a huge amount of high quality sounds that are ready to use in Ableton’s flagship digital audio workstation. The great news, though, is that the library also includes the WAV files which can be used in any 3rd party sampler or DAW on the market (the included samples and loops are not baked into an ALP file as with some other Ableton Live packs).
As mentioned above, the content is sorted into seven categories by type. There’s a lot of interesting stuff waiting to be discovered in this freebie, ranging from Atari and C64 style 8-bit sounds to epic film score loops and some rather peculiar Suzuki Omnichord sounds. Mélange packs a little bit of something for everyone and it’s well worth the download, especially if you’re a Live user. The pack is a bit less useful if you’re planning on using the provided WAVs with a 3rd party sampler (because you’ll have to create the patches manually), but I’m sure that most users will still appreciate the sheer amount and the quality of the included content.
