We are officially in April. Now, with all the hokey April Fool jokes out of the way, it’s time to focus on what really matters.

U78 Saturator
U78 Saturator is one of those mojo boxes that goes a bit undersung when considering the vast number of saturators on the market.
I had the pleasure of reviewing this for another publication alongside its matching compressor and was impressed with how it sounded on kicks, electric guitars, and bass.
The built-in EQ makes for some great tonal shaping capabilities. The sound of the saturation itself is quite pleasing, adding a bit of woolly warmth to melodic elements that work for some mixes.
VISION 4X
VISION 4X has earned a permanent place in my plugin folder. I’ve been on the hunt for a comprehensive spectrum viewer and VISION 4X more than fits the bill. VISION 4X Lite is missing a few features, but it is more than enough for your metering and visualization needs.
The most important elements for me, the Transient and Harmonic modes, are readily available. You can also use it in place of something like Izotope’s Tonal Balance Control.
That said, these are some wonderful freebies. I can hear a few folks grousing that VISION 4X Lite is a repeat, and you’d be right. However, I see it as an opportunity to get two useful tools for your mixing needs while you’re picking up whatever impulse purchases seem appropriate at Plugin Boutique.
As with all Plugin Boutique purchases, you’re able to use your rewards to make purchases. Just make sure you’re paying the absolute minimum to pick up whatever you’re after.
If you have to pick just one, I would wholeheartedly suggest U78 Saturator. It isn’t a Swiss Army knife saturator like Kelvin or Saturn 2, but it sounds great.
