DrumTrunk has announced that they will be releasing a free collection of acoustic drum samples each month for their email subscribers. Their first freebie pack features two great sounding multi-sampled snares.
DrumTrunk aims to try something new by keeping your sample library stocked full of fresh, high quality drum samples by delivering a new batch each month. You may be curious about pricing, which drums we’ll be sampling, what studios we’ll be visiting, as well as which producers we’ll be working with. We promise to answer these questions as we get closer to launch, but until then, enjoy these free snare samples!
The DrumTrunk website still hasn’t been officially launched, however they’ve already prepared a batch of free samples for people who subscribe to their mailing list. The sign-up process is pretty easy. Simply enter your email address in the form on the page linked below and the sample pack will be delivered to your Inbox. I had to wait around 15 minutes before the download links had arrived, but it was well worth the wait.
This month’s freebie pack features a collection of multi-samples featuring the sounds of two different acoustic snare drums. The first folder in the pack features the Mapex Black Panther Black Widow snare and the second folder is simply labeled Snappy Snare. It’s quite possible that these samples come from the same snare drum, but recorded with a different setup. Also, each folder contains two different multi-sampled sets, one dry and one with loads of natural room reverb.
Your download email will contain links to four different versions of the sample pack. One version features only the WAV files, while the other three come with mappings for Slate Trigger, NI Kontakt and Drumagog, respectively.
The included samples sound fantastic. I’m not a huge fan of the room sound in the wet kits (too much reverb in those for my taste), but the dry samples sound brilliant. There are between 30 and 40 velocity layers for each included set, so it will be pretty easy to create natural sounding performances with this sample collection.
A recommended download for everyone who wants to expand their acoustic snare library. Keep an eye on the page linked below for future DrumTrunk releases. I’m quite eager to see what they have in store for us next month.
