SaschArt Releases EasyGater FREE Trance Gate VST/AU Plugin

SaschArt has released EasyGater, a freeware trance gate effect in VST and AU plugin formats for compatible DAW software on PC and Mac.

Like the outdoorsman said to the Alligatoridae when they asked if he could turn in the quarterly earnings report early: “Easy, gater!”

Aside from being someone who presumably builds or sells gates, a gater is also a useful audio tool for injecting some movement and life into an otherwise stale pattern. A rhythmic gate plugin does so by rhythmically muting parts of the audio at adjustable rates. The effect is similar to tremolo, but with much more control over the shape of the modulation.

A gater can work as a creative tool in many different music styles, but most notably trance and EDM. For these reasons, a rhythmic gate is commonly referred to by the name “trance gate.”

Btw, be careful not to confuse a trance gate with a noise gate, which is a signal attenuator, or a Stargate Atlantis, which is a terrible sequel to a sci-fi classic. And if you’re on the market for one (a trance gate, that is), look no further than Saschart’s EasyGater.

The plugin provides up to 32 steps with individual duration, volume, attack, and release settings per step with options to set each as a dotted or triplet note, all synchronized with your DAW. The transition between steps can be set using the Fade knob, and a global volume target can be selected from either Low Gain, High Gain, or an oscillation between the two.

Additionally, steps can be locked so that they remain unaffected when changing global time settings, represented in the GUI as blue arrows. In contrast, the green arrows set global volume. The software also provides genre-specific presets such as Trance, House, and Groove to get you started.

EasyGater is available for direct free download from SaschArt’s website, no registration required. It works as a VST and AU plugin in all compatible digital audio workstations. Both 32-bit and 64-bit plugin hosts are supported.

  1. Hey! That plugin wasn’t that bad, after they got rid of Ford and found enough ZPM to move to San Francisco also I kinda like the Low and High Gain modes. My only regret is no stereo mode and also don’t forget McKay, who a..ed gr..t co.ic re.ief .o th. .how… Also it was a spinoff and not a sequel, but I digress.

      • Exactly. Lmao ahah smh!! I hate when ******* (edited by mod) leave unintelligible, make undecipherable comments, that kr*pz annoying, not to mention a waste of time, effort, attention span.

MOD EDIT: Please do not insult other readers. Let’s all keep it civil in the comments section.

        • The article has a reference to Stargate Atlantis, I only answered to it. Wasn’t that hard to figure it out.
If you don’t get it, ignore it, it just never was aimed at you. From both ends.

  2. Tempting to check out… BUT working on music and staring at a big ugly “Donate” button is a hard pass… I’m sure many people will not have a problem with it, but it’s just not for me :)

  3. Me too, but i found a way replacing that picture into the file …
Nice result, it is not present there anymore, just care to not click
over the ad area, as well i don’t click on their logo too, that leads
us up to their site. I understand the reason they deserve to be paid.
