Nomad Factory Magnetic II Costs Only €16 @ VSTBuzz

VSTBuzz is offering the Magnetic II tape saturation plugin by Nomad Factory for 85% OFF (€16) until July 21st, 2021.

I love tape emulation more than I love the sun and breathing oxygen.

If I could, I’d recode my DNA so I can survive on nothing but tape emulation. I want to ride twin bicycles with the concept of tape emulation, have a picnic in the park, and then marry it in front of our families and respected members of our community.

So when you tell me that there’s a plugin out there that has not one, not two, but nine different tape emulations and it’s down to only €16, as far as I’m concerned, that’s the best plugin ever made.

And I’m not entirely crazy, Magnetic II is very well thought out.

All nine tape emulation models are placed on the left, with pretty extensive ways to customize them on the right.

Here are all the tape models:

• Otari MX-80 2-inch 24-track
• Otari MTR-90 2-inch 24-track
• Ampex MM1200 2-inch 24-track
• Ampex ATR-102 half-inch two-track
• Tascam ATR60-16 1-inch 16-track
• Studer A80 Mk II 2-inch 24-track
• Studer A827 2-inch 24-track
• Studer A820 2-inch 24-track
• MCI JH24 2-inch 24-track

Each emulation offers control for Input, Output, Highs, Lows, Reel Speed, Saturation, and Tape Color, and there’s also a “Boost” button and a Wow/ Flutter knob.

Here’s the kicker – all the controls you have at the bottom have different options, too – for example, Tape Color has options for Natural, Vintage, and Modern, and the Lows control can be switched between Body, Warm, and Lush.

Oh, and setting the Reel Speed knob between 1 and 30 activates the special DASH setting, which, according to Nomad Factory, offers the most high-fidelity emulation of the original tape machines.

“Magnetic II” features pure analog reel-to-reel tape speeds, tape/tube saturation, and tape color effects, as well as a dedicated vintage-style EQ and a built-in Boost mastering section. The result is a creamy, warm sound that can only be achieved by Magnetic II.

That’s a crazy amount of sound-shaping customization. Tape emulation should be subtle, so control like this is a fantastic value.

At €16, I’m in love with Magnetic II.
