Free Samples & Loops Round-Up (February 2016)

5

Since there are so many free soundware releases popping up almost on a daily basis nowadays, we have to group some of them in larger round-up articles such as this one. Here’s a quick look at some of the best free samples and loops released so far this month.

Smokers Unite Taster Pack is a rather small but great sounding collection of hip hop samples and loops by Raw Cutz, available for free download via Loopmasters. Unlike some recent Loopmasters taster packs, this one is completely free to download and use – you won’t even have to register for a user account on their website if you don’t want to (although registering will give you access to an additional 500 MB set of exclusive free sounds).

Phat Moog Synth is the latest free Ableton Live pack by our mate AfroDJMac, featuring the awesome analog sounds of the Moog Sub Phatty synthesizer. Check out AfroDJMac’s website for loads more free Ableton Live instruments, effects and tutorials!

4 DA CLUB Part 2 by Biome Digital is the second edition of the company’s excellent freebie loop collection for electronic musicians and music producers. Part 2 picks up where 4 DA CLUB Part 1 left off, delivering yet another useful collection of drum, bass, SFX and synth loops to the table. The included sounds are royalty free and available for download completely free of charge.

SFX Collection 03 is a brand new sound effects collection released by Wave Alchemy. You can download this great little set of free samples that were handpicked from the full version of the product by clicking the Free Sounds button on the main product page. The free version of the library is a 122 MB download containing a total of 54 royalty free SFX sounds.

Tension Strings by Petrosfera is a free SFZ and NI Kontakt library featuring a collection of samples made with strings. Apart from standard string instruments like guitars, Petrosfera also used electrical wires and other unconventional sound sources while creating these samples. The library contains five pads and seven plucked patches.

Santuri Safari Instruments Pack is a free Ableton Live sound pack by Emile Hoogenhout, featuring a collection of authentic African instruments. The pack is completely free to download, but please keep in mind that you’ll need Ableton Live in order to use these sounds. WAV samples are not included in the pack, unfortunately.

Dubspot Sounds V1 is a free loop collection created by Mike Kiraly. The pack contains 60 audio loops in total, all of which are tempo labeled and completely royalty free. Please note that you’ll need to subscribe to the Dubspot monthly newsletter in order to download the free sound pack.

The Alpine Project is a new website focused on providing free Native Instruments Kontakt sound libraries that are based on royalty free and public domain sources. Their plan is to release a new orchestral instrument each month.

MS 202 KIT is a free Korg MS20 sample pack featuring a set of sixteen bass sounds and percussive one shots. Sounds interesting? Of course it does! You’ll definitely want to check these out if you’re into dirty analog percussive hits and basses.

FreeSounds by SampleTraxx is a collection of free cinematic sounds and sound effects which were handpicked from the label’s various commercial releases. Please note that you’ll need to sign up for their email newsletter in order to download the freebie sounds.

Free You is the latest collaborative effort launched by 8DIO, similar to their previous Free Radicals and Free Angels projects. Record five of the most important sounds in your life, send them over to 8DIO and download the full library for free once it’s released.

  1. I don’t get it, i opened Tension Strings in the Kontakt player, but soon it stopped working because “Demo timed out”. Are Tension strings supposed to be used with full Kontakt?
