Liveschool has released Fairchild 808, a free Ableton Live drum rack featuring Roland TR-808 drum machine sounds processed with a Fairchild compressor.
For your beat-producing pleasure here is a custom-built Sample and Drum Rack pack. And man, did we get to play with some tasty kit while making it!
Fairchild 808 is available for free download via Liveschool (1.6MB download size, contains 1 Ableton Live rack in ALP file format).
The drum rack contains Roland TR-808 sounds, which have been treated with high end audio gear in Studios 301 in Sydney, Australia. Each captured sample has been played through the legendary Fairchild 670 compressor.
Unfortunately, Ableton Live is absolutely required in order to use these sounds. The WAV samples are not separately available, which is truly a misfortune for us who user other DAWs.
