SampleScience has released 1980 Modality, a free Native Instruments Kontakt sample library featuring a classic 1980s synthesizer patch.
Inspired by Depeche Mode eighties sound, hence the name “1980 Modality”. Free to download and use, not redistribute or sell.
1980 Modality is available for free download via KVR Audio (21.0 MB download size, ZIP archive, ).
The instrument is based on samples of a classic 80s resonating phase distortion synthesizer patch. The sound of the recorded patch has been further enriched with effects. 1980 Modality features 24-bit depth samples which are spread across two octaves.
The download pack also includes WAV samples which can be loaded in pretty much any hardware or software sampler. Thus, the use of NI Kontakt it is not required, however the provided instrument patch does need the full version of Kontakt in order to be used without any limitations. It will work for 20 minutes in the freeware Kontakt Player.
