ToneBytes has released Stereo Enhancer, a free (ad supported!) 4-mode stereo enhancement effect in VST plugin format for Windows.

Stereo Enhancer is a simple VST effect plug-in for converting mono to stereo signals as well as for stereo widening. This is possible due to the several techniques such as multi-band frequency splitting and panning, phasing one of the channel etc.

Stereo Enhancer is available for free download via ToneBytes (4.69 MB download size, EXE installer, 32-bit VST plugin format for Windows).

The plugin can convert mono signals to stereo and further enhance the stereo separation of audio which is already available in stereo. It uses multi-band frequency splitting and paning, as well as phasing in order to achieve the stereo widening effect.

Stereo Enhancer is free to download and use, however the installer features an option for the installation of Delta Toolbar. Be careful during the installation process if you don’t want to install the toolbar. Select the Advanced Mode on the toolbar installation windows and deselect all three options shown on the screen.

The effect comes with 4 frequency splitting modes and two knobs for controlling the amount of the stereo enhancing effect and for controlling the overall stereo setting of the signal. It can also be used to converting stereo signals to mono.

Finally, Stereo Enhancer comes with 16 factory presets and a built-in preset manager which can be used for editing and saving user presets.
