sonicLAB has announced that their Cosmosƒ Lite advanced stochastic synthesizer is now available as a free download for students with a valid student ID.

This product is a “lite” version of the advanced stochastic synthesizer Cosmosƒ. It is “Free” for students with a valid student ID.

Cosmosƒ Lite is available for free download via sonicLAB (32-bit & 64-bit VSTi/AU plugin format for Windows & Mac).

To get your free copy of Cosmosƒ Lite, you’ll need to send a photo or a scan of your student ID to sonicLAB (their email address is [email protected]). After they authorize your free copy of the synthesizer, it should arrive to your email Inbox.

Cosmosƒ Lite is a feature limited version of the Cosmosƒ stochastic synthesizer. I’m not exactly sure of what the limitations are in the Lite version, except that it doesn’t feature the the “parallel universe” and the “morphing” components from the full product.

The regular price for Cosmosƒ Lite is $115, while the full version of the product can be purchased for $205 in the sonicLAB online shop. Upgrading from the Lite version to the full version of the product is not possible, unfortunately.

Although I don’t really understand what stochastic synthesis is, Cosmosƒ should essentially be capable of producing sounds which can’d be synthesized by conventional synthesis methods.
