Swagbass – Free Electric Bass Guitar Sample Library Released By Karoryfer (SFZ)

7

Karoryfer has announced the release of Swagbass, a free down tuned electric bass guitar sample library designed for use in hip hop music and available in SFZ format.

A bass guitar with old flatwound strings and fake Louis Vuitton fabric glued to it. Not quite as detuned as the electric upright, but does include samples tuned down to A. Very hip-hop.

First of all, I must mention that this library was created by Drogomir Smolken. This author has previously released a free double bass sample library in SFZ format (here’s the article on BPB, download link inside) and it’s definitely one of the best free bass sample packs around.

Because of that, I was very eager to check out his new bass sample pack. This new pack is based on an electric bass guitar which was tuned to A, making it suitable for deep basslines such as the ones used in hip hop and dub tunes. The bass guitar used for the pack uses active electronics and dead flatwound strings. It also has a cover made of Louis Vuitton fabric, hence the swag bass name.

Anyways, the samples sound awesome and this is a must download for hip hop and dub producers. Of course, the samples will also work well in other styles, including pop and indie rock.

Karoryfer has also released Ergo, an extensive free upright bass sample library which also features SFZ mappings. It includes bowed and pizzicato articulations with multiple round robin variations. The pack also includes a set of kick drum sounds which were created from the samples of the deepest bass notes.

Both libraries are provided completely royalty free. The included samples are free for commercial use. Find more free bass samples in our Free Sample Shootout article.

  1. Thank you for the very kind words. I’m working on another bass guitar already – just recorded the raw data last week. Reading something like this is definitely encouraging.
