Get Zero-G Altered States Pads For FREE Until March 29th!

Time+Space is giving away the Altered States Pads sound library by Zero-G as a free download until March 29th this year.

Altered States Pads is the eighth part of the Altered States collection by Zero-G, a sound library that dates all the way back to the days of Kontakt 2 (here’s a really old review of the library). The collection (the Pads part, not the complete Altered States collection) is normally priced at £11.97, however Time+Space is now giving it away as a free download for a limited time. What’s good to know, though, is that you get to keep these sounds for good (and use them in your music, of course!) if you download them before March 29th.

Interestingly enough, the free version of the library doesn’t contain any Kontakt patches. As far as I know, Altered States packs usually come with a set of NKI patches for Kontakt 2, however this free download only contains the WAVs. That’s not too much of a bummer, though, as the samples are clearly labeled and there aren’t more than a dozen multi-samples per patch to choose from, so building mappings manually in your sampler of choice should be a breeze. Speaking of samplers, the excellent (and completely free to use) Grace by One Small Clue should work very well in tandem with these samples, as you could use its powerful modulation features to add even more movement and depth to the sounds.

As for the quality of the included samples, there’s quite a lot of good stuff to be found inside Altered States Pads. It is an old school sample library and some of the included samples do sound quite dated, however there are more than a few absolute gems in it as well. The pack contains a whole bunch of wonderfully lush atmospheres and layered pads which are practically begging to be loaded in a modern day sampler and processed, sliced, pitched and time-stretched into something completely new.
