Samples From Mars has released Snacks From Mars, a free sample pack containing a selection of sounds from the label’s commercial releases.
Snacks From Mars is a rather generous taster pack covering a range of multi-sampled synth sounds and drum machine samples from Samples From Mars’ product catalog. It includes sounds from 22 different releases, featuring the sounds of iconic hardware instruments like the Roland TR-808, ARP 2600, EDP WASP, AKAI MPC60, and others. Unlike most taster packs on the market, this one feels like a full product and is a highly recommended download for all drum machine and analog synthesizer aficionados.
The pack is available in two different versions. The standard version contains the samples in WAV format, along with the patches for NI Kontakt, Apple Logic, Propellerheads Reason, AIR Structure, NI Maschine, NI Battery, and AKAI MPC. The Ableton Live version contains the WAV samples and the Ableton Live presets without covering any other formats.
As for the sample content, it covers twelve different drum machines and ten synthesizers. All recordings were processed with first-class outboard gear to further enhance the sounds of the sampled instruments. The drum samples are organized into three drum kits with unique combinations of sounds captured from different drum machines. For example, one of the kits features a DrumTraks kick, an 808 snare, a Drumulator clap, 909 hi-hats, and other sounds. The synth samples are provided as sets of multi-sampled patches. Some of the included multis are an SH-101 square bass patch, a Yamaha DX100 pad, and a Casio SK1 piano.
All included content is royalty free for use in free and commercial music projects. A valid email address is required to access the download link.
Snacks From Mars is available for free download via Samples From Mars (651 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 1,003 audio samples in 24-bit WAV format, presets for NI Kontakt, NI Maschine, Ableton Live, etc.).
