Free Fog Horns Of Doom Sample Library By Fairly Confusing Waveforms

1

Fog Horns Of Doom is a free sample library by Fairly Confusing Waveforms, featuring a collection of fog horn samples in WAV format and an optional commercial version of the library in NKI format.

I recorded a handful of sound samples in two sessions, one using portable Zoom recorder and the other in my home studio setup. I’ve got some sustained tones, some short horn noise bursts and some strange sounds, achieved by blocking the horn tube opening with various objects. Got me quite an ear ringing…

Fairly Confusing Waveforms never fails at bringing us totally cool and unusual sample libraries. Their recently released Junk Percussion and Arctic Rooster are just a couple of examples of their brilliant work.

Their latest sample library called Fog Horns Of Doom features the sound of those unusual looking spray cans with huge horns placed on top. They are often used for making noise at sporting events and concerts. Apparently, Fairly Confusing Waveforms noticed their hidden potential and turned them into sampled instruments for use with any WAV compatible sampler.

The 16-bit WAV version of the library with 35 individual samples is offered as a free download on the product page linked below. The Kontakt 5 version of the library with 24-bit WAV samples can be purchased for $1 or more via Bandcamp (you can pick any price you want).

I still haven’t tested the samples properly, however the audio demo embedded below sounds quite promising. It reminds me of the tripod sound from the War of the Worlds remake. It’s one of the coolest sounds ever, you can hear it in this YouTube clip (5:03 on the timeline).
