Free Junk Guitar For NI Kontakt Released By Fujiya Instruments

1

Fujiya Instruments has released Junk Guitar, a free electric guitar sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt (also includes samples in WAV format).

Junk Guitar is a free electric guitar virtual instrument for NI Kontakt. The name doesn’t do this library justice at all because this is a versatile virtual guitar instrument which sounds quite good. Junk Guitar is compatible with the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt and will only work in demo mode in the free Kontakt Player (resulting in a fifteen-minute time limit). The good news for users who don’t own Kontakt, though, is that Fujiya Instruments has also included the WAV samples. You will need to create the mappings manually if you wish to use them in a different sampler, though.

The user interface is a joy to use, with simple and easy to understand controls. Junk Guitar features three different playing modes (Mono, Poly, and Chord) with up/down stroke variations and five different chord types (Major, Minor, 7th, Sus4, and Ghost). These can be accessed by pressing the mode buttons on the instrument panel or via MIDI keyswitches. The keyswitches are labeled above each button so it’s easy to figure out which MIDI note does what. With a bit of practice and attention to detail, it’s relatively easy to create natural sounding guitar performances with Junk Guitar.

The recording quality is good and the guitar was sampled deeply enough to sound natural and not robotic/artificial during a performance. Of course, you should place an amp sim after Junk Guitar in the signal chain to achieve a proper guitar tone (you can try the recently released Free Amp by Blue Cat Audio if you’re looking for a simple freeware solution). The different playing modes all work quite well and I was able to squeeze out some fairly decent sounding guitar arpeggios and solos in no time. The guitar chord samples also sound very good, with slow strums on lower velocity values and more aggressively played chords on louder notes.

To download your free copy of Junk Guitar, complete the checkout process on the product page linked below. The download links will appear instantly and there’s no need to verify your email address. Signing up for the Fujiya Instruments email newsletter is completely optional. If you’re looking for a more advanced electric guitar or bass guitar instrument, check out Fujiya’s online store.

  1. Reminds me of another’ Junk Guitar’ made by Major 7th Studio, together with KMG7, also free. Maybe we should check it out, too.
