Punisher is a tape-style saturation effect in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats for digital audio workstations on PC and Mac. With the freely downloadable Punisher plugin, the user can customize the saturation shaper and set the amount of signal distortion. The plugin also features a makeup gain parameter for controlling the volume levels on the output.

Punisher’s coolest feature, though, is the built-in equalizer, which is used to pinpoint the exact area of the frequency spectrum that should be saturated. This way, the user can distort one area of the range while keeping the rest transparent. Thanks to its built-in equalizer, Punisher can work as a surgical saturation effect for mixing and mastering purposes.

Most saturator plugins have very limited features for affecting the coloration of the drive effect. Punisher uses a unique internal push/pull equalizer curve to tailor your saturation effect to your track. This way you can, for example, only target the high end of a drum beat, preserving the kick transients in a very natural way. Or only target the mid-range of a synth to retain its definition.
