onYou could devote a whole thesis to that question. :-) a good amp sim is indistinguishable from the ‘real’ thing. On record you won’t notice. Live – your audience won’t notice. Example…Metallica use amp sims live these days (axe fx).

AMPED sounds much better even if it’s a “one trick pony” for rock and metal
