Cableguys have announced the Curve 2 Sound Design Challenge winners, as selected by the members of the jury. As a result of this great contest, the cloud based Curve 2 sound library now includes 400 brand new free presets for this awesome hybrid synthesizer.

The Cableguys Curve 2 Sound Design Challenge supported by Ableton and Warp Academy has found many creative, enthusiastic fans, creating and sharing more than 400 contest entries.

If you’re new to Curve 2, the awesome thing about this virtual instrument is that the presets are stored in a cloud. This means that you can download thousands of free presets with the built in preset manager, as long as your computer is connected to the web. You can also choose to share your own presets with the world if you like.

But the coolest part of the whole preset cloud thing is that you get new presets for your synthesizer every day and it’s loads of fun to check for new presets every time you fire up Curve 2 and seeing what the other users have created. Also, all the presets can be rated and they are easily searchable. If you need a new bass sound, browse the bass section for new presets and inspiration. It’s an awesome and innovative concept which really adds a unique value to this otherwise great synthesizer.

Curve 2 is priced at €119 over at the Cableguys online store. The free demo version is fully functional though and there’s no time limit. You can also use the demo version to check out the online presets.

The winning entries of the Curve 2 Sound Design Challenge are embedded below. Some great sounds were submitted in the contest, my personal favorite being the Rhythmic Action Filters preset which you can hear in the embedded playlist.
