Free Thermionic Solid State Drums By Goldbaby

Goldbaby is back with yet another awesome freebie! His latest free drum pack is Thermionic Solid State Drums Free Pack, a collection of free drum hits which have been processed with The Fat Bustard II valve mixer by Thermionic Culture.

What is there to say about Goldbaby’s drum kits that you don’t already know. The guy is a legend among indie sound designers, with a huge portfolio of incredibly popular and great sounding sound libraries. He samples drum machines for the most part, however he’s also done several analog keyboard multi-sample collections and synth-specific sound packs. His signature sound libraries are really well crafted, featuring the authentic sounds of classic vintage gear processed with an array of analog and digital equipment like tube preamps, tape recorders, old-school samplers, etc.

In December last year he published a free collection of Korg Volca Beats sounds which were re-sampled from the Akai MPC60 sampler and now he’s back with a free collection of hard hitting drums from the commercial Thermionic Solid State Drums ($49) sound pack. The freebie pack provides just a small taste of the sounds from the full release, however all 106 included drum hits are highly usable and expertly processed in classic Goldbaby fashion.

The free sound pack contains 24 snares, 37 kick drums, 6 claps, 6 claves, 4 congas, 3 cymbal hits, 7 hi-hats, 6 percussive hits, 4 rimshots, 3 shakers and 6 toms, sampled from 11 different drum machines and 6 synthesizers. There’s plenty of goodness for drum sample collectors in the freebie pack and there’s tons more good stuff in the full version of the library, with 5,070 individual samples!

The freebie pack is offered as a free download in WAV format, however FXpansion Geist and NI Machine users can download adapted versions of the Thermionic Solid State Drums Free Pack from Goldbaby’s website.
