VSTBuzz launched a 58% OFF deal on the Omnitec-436C compressor plugin by Black Rooster Audio.

Omnitec-436C from Black Rooster Audio is inspired by the classic Altec 436c Tube Compressor and is 58% off until March 13th, which means it can be yours for €23!

I guess I’ve just got compressors on the brain today. If you’ve been on the hunt for a vari-mu compressor for your mixing needs, you’ve got a plethora of options in the software space.

I’m fairly partial to the ever-excellent MJUC, but the one featured in today’s sale piques my interest.

The Omnitec-436C from Black Rooster Audio is a compressor based on a classic tube compressor, and for the low price of $23.30, you can smear that gooey tube compression all over your master bus.

Omnitec-436C isn’t a direct emulation of a particular unit but gets inspiration from the Altec 436c tube compressor, as you might infer from the name. The original compressor is a little more subdued when it comes to controls, with only an attack and release present for controlling the action of the compressor.

Omnitec-436C goes a little bit further, which is great in the land of music production software.

You’ve got an attack and release, as you might expect, but also sidechain filters for the low and high frequencies.

This lends it a bit of a thrust when it comes to midrange content, so you can make snares and guitars pop right out of an instrument bus if you want.

Rather than working with the input and output knobs on the original unit to level match, you have a threshold that isn’t directly linked to the volume of the compressor. As such, you can dial in how much dynamic control you want with some ease.

I’m not super familiar with this particular compressor from BRA, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed their previous offerings. I’m particularly fond of the BRA LA-3A emulation, which works quite well for sparkly post-punk guitars.

If you’d like to add something a smooth action, then Omnitec-436C is a welcome addition. You’ll want to act fast before the sale is over at VSTBuzz.

Omnitec-436C is available for Windows and Mac computers. It is Apple Silicon compatible, which is always great to see. Supported plugin formats are VST, AU, and AAX.
